Our
first game of the new season gave us a home fixture against a good side who we
had lost both league games to last season.
Despite
a bright opening we found ourselves a goal down in the first half and once again
facing defeat on the opening game. However, some new found confidence and team
spirit throughout the game helped lift the players and a well deserved equaliser
from James Boulton paved the way for a good positive result from our smaller
squad of players. It was particularly pleasing as the boys fought back from
behind when in previous games we would have struggled. What made the day even
more pleasing for our players was the fact that they were not aware of Bristol
Centrals problem of not registering in time for the start of the season and that
we had secured the 3 points even before the game had started!
We had a new trophy for our weekly Man of the Match award, in World Cup season it was rather aptly a replica of the famous trophy.
For
our first game it was decided by a selection of parents and was deservedly
awarded to our keeper Craig Francis who just gets better each game he plays.
